Learning Curve – Covid Control

Our current system of controls are:

1) Minimise contact with individuals who are unwell by ensuring that those who have coronavirus (COVID19) symptoms or who have someone in their household who does or have been advised by NHS test and trace to self-isolate, do not attend settings.

2) Where recommended, the use of face coverings. It is not currently recommended that staff wear face masks in early years settings.

3) Clean hands thoroughly and more often than usual, this has always been an integral part of our infection control system. Staff and children are washing hands regularly throughout the nursery session.  The team have all be trained in Hand Hygiene and how to wash hands properly.

4) We ensure good respiratory hygiene by promoting the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ approach.

5) We maintain enhanced cleaning, including cleaning frequently touched surfaces often using standard products, such as detergents. We have an enhanced cleaning schedule in each room.

6) We minimise contact between groups of children where possible as we continue to operate in small bubbles and do not mix age groups.

7) Where necessary, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) if a child becomes ill with suspected COVID19 they will be isolated along with their key person whilst we await collection. If a distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained staff will then put on a tabard, face visor and gloves so they can comfort the child if needed.

8) Keep occupied spaces well ventilated windows are always open in each room and internal doors are also open to ensure optimum ventilation.
